Vishnu Manchu's much-anticipated mythological drama Kannappa is all set for its grand release today, on June 27, 2025. However, the team has faced a roadblock as a hard drive containing the unreleased version of the movie has gone missing, raising concerns about a potential leak, piracy, and other related issues.
Piracy threat for Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa
As per reports, a Mumbai-based VFX company had handed over the important hard drive to the Kannappa production office. After that, a man named Raghu allegedly handed it over to a person named Charita, who has since gone missing—raising serious concerns about the film possibly being leaked online, which could severely impact its box office performance and result in massive losses for the team.
In response to this unusual development, executive producer Vijay Kumar has filed a complaint, and an investigation is currently underway. However, there has been no new update on the matter, with the person carrying the hard drive still untraceable.
Reportedly, this isn’t the first setback for Kannappa. Earlier, Prabhas’ look from the film was leaked online by a team member, who was promptly identified and removed.
Despite strict anti-piracy laws being in place, illegal streaming platforms continue to be a huge problem for the film industry. Earlier, Salman Khan's Sikandar had fallen prey to it when the film was leaked online on several notorious platforms like Tamilrockers, Movierulz, Filmyzilla, and various Telegram groups. Salman Khan who is totally against the leaking of any film online, once addressed the problem of pirated versions of films being released.
