TV actress Shilpa Shinde, who shot to fame with Telly soap 'Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain!', has a naughty dance number in Sanjay Chhel&rsquo;s upcoming family comedy Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi starring Rishi Kapoor, Paresh Rawal and Vir Das.
Says Shilpa aka Bhabiji, &ldquo;After enough controversy that affected my reputation, it was surprising to get a call from the makers of the film. When I was offered the song I thought: &lsquo;I will have to shed some kilos&rsquo; as I haven&rsquo;t done dance numbers before, but the PKPS team didn&rsquo;t have enough time and wanted to shoot immediately. They briefed me about the concept and I was okay with it. I thought if I let go off this opportunity, it might not get it again, especially to dance along with such a stalwart Rishi Kapoorji. I was destined to do it. Moreover, PKPS was such a good team to work with right from the producer to the stars to director, the film title also sounds good. The name Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi is so vibrant.&rdquo;
Ask Shilpa if the controversy worked in her favour and she laughs, &ldquo;Yes it was good for me. I was really upset when I had to quit, but I am an actress and my desire is always to do something where I can creatively contribute. So when I got this song, I was more than happy. Moreover, this song didn&rsquo;t demand me to be skinny. All I had to do is give my best shot. It wasn&rsquo;t a demeaning song which only demands skin show. Since PKPS is a family comedy, it was so comfortable working with such a great team, I was game for it.&rdquo;
She adds, &ldquo;It&rsquo;s a cute, nice, funny, situational song which comes after interval and goes in sync with the storyline." Writer and director Sanjay Chhel says, &ldquo;The song required a hot woman with an innocent face and Shilpa is apt for it. She is a male fantasy, yet she is popular with her family image. It&rsquo;s a great combo of sex symbol and Sanskari image.&rdquo;
Shilpa Shinde rehearsed with veteran star Rishi Kapoor and Vir Das for a week and surprised everyone with her confidence. But it is being said that the surprise in store for us would be the raunchy lyrics written by Sanjay Chhel.
