Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (KSBKBT), starring Amar Upadhyay and Smriti Irani, has made news since discussions of its return began. While Amar and Smriti have begun shooting for the relaunch version of the show, the buzz around the cast has only increased. Quite a few of their former cast members have reunited with the show and new actors have also been cast.

Barkha confirms her entry in Kyunki

Amid the major buzz on who will play the character of Amar aka Mihir's love interest in the show. Now, Barkha Bisht spoke to Hindustan Times, confirming that she will be playing a pivotal role in the show. Though reports suggest that she will play Amar, alias Mihir Virani's love interest in the drama. Barkha refused to give out any details regarding her character in the show. She only said, "Yes, I am joining the show, but I can’t reveal much about the role right now."

Barkha has appeared on several popular TV shows, including Kasauti Zindagii Kay, Tenali Rama, and Shaadi Mubarak. The actor made her Bollywood debut in Raajneeti (2010), starring Ranbir Singh and Katrina Kaif.

While the reports strongly suggest her character will be closely related to Mihir's track, the actress left it at that, implying that everything will be revealed in time. With Smriti, Amar, and now Barkha on board, the show's return is set to be one of the most anticipated television comebacks of the year.

Ekta's long post on why she brought back Kyunki

Recently, Ekta Kapoor shared her reaction to bringing the show back. In a long post, she mentioned, "Why Kyunki, why now? When the 25th year of 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' was approaching and the idea of relaunching it surfaced, my first reaction was a firm no. Why would I want to shake up nostalgia? You can never compete with nostalgia. It always remains supreme. How I remember my childhood and how it really was, will always be different. Also, the television space has changed. Once dependent on 9 cities, audiences now consume content in fragments, scattered across platforms. Would this shake the legacy of Kyunki, the iconic TRP no one ever achieved before and after? But was that truly the legacy of the show? Was it just a show with high numbers? Research carried out by an international body once concluded that the show gave a voice to women in Indian homes. Between 2000 and 2005, for the first time, women began participating in family discussions, a shift deeply influenced by Indian television, especially 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' and 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki'."
