Bharti Singh
Bharti Singh is an established comedienne and host in India. She was among the first few women to do stand-up comedy and rise to popularity with her craft. Today, she is among the highest-paid names in Indian television. Recently, she revealed that her mother had attempted to abort her.
Bharti's mother tried to abort her
Bharti Singh is the third child of her parents. Recalling her early days during a podcast with Raj Shamani, the comedienne revealed, "I was the third child. My father worked at a factory, and my mother was a housewife. They already had two kids. Pehle toh pata hi nahi chalta tha ki arre main pregnant ho gayi. She found out two to three months later."
She recalled, “Phir meri mummy ne itni saari jadibutiyaan baba logon se milke khaayi, paer ke bal baith ke poche maare, garam cheez-papita, khajur-kha liya ki yeh rahe na. But I had to come. My mother gave birth to me on her own. She was alone at home, and my father had a night duty."
“She gave birth to me alone, just called a dai to cut the cord, who took Rs 60. Main Rs 60 main hui hoon. Main Rs 60 ka bachcha hoon. Aur aaj dekha maine mummy ko Rs 1.60 crore ka ghar le kar diya hai. Yes, I was an unwanted child. They had a boy and a girl, and they thought that was enough because who would raise the child? But they gave me a lot of love," Bharti Singh said.
Bharti had spoken about this earlier in an interview on Rajeev Khandelwal's JuzzBaatt in 2018. She mentioned that despite wanting to initially abort her, her mother gave her a lot of love and always supported her in her career. She also said that her mother raised her and her siblings all by herself after the demise of her father.
Bharti calls her son Gola a strange combination
On the same podcast, Bharti, who is a mother to her son Gola, said that he is a strange combination of her Punjabi roots and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa's Gujarati roots. Sharing her experience, she said that a Punjabi and Gujarati should not have a kid together. "Nahi karni chahiye kyuki unka bachcha bada kharab nikalta hai. Humara bachcha na… ab tak humare teen phone balti main ja chuke hain pani main. Kayi cheezein, mugs, towel, Haarsh ke kachche padosiyon ke ghar uda deta hai voh. Bohot zyada mujhe aisa lagta hai ki… pata nahi saare aise hi shararati hote hain, humara toh pehla hi hai. Bohot zyada shararati hai."
She added, “Mujhe aisa lagta hai yeh combination kuch ajeeb nahi ho gaya, ghee aur dhokle ka? Thoda ajeeb sa ho gaya hai. Main toh kitna bolti hoon, vlog pe bhi bola hai kayi baar, ki agar kisi Gujarati aur Punjabi ko pyaar ho raha hai toh pehli hi soch lo kyuki humara bachcha aisa hai."
