Zakir Khan: Comics should get the liberty that politicians do

His fans recognise him as the boy with 'ghamand' (attitude) who is 'haq se single' (single by right), but Zakir Khan uses the aggressive front only to humour his audience. The boy, who made humble beginnings and rose to fame after he won a stand-up comedy competition by Comedy Central, has released a new monologue for a channel and has even been roped in as a mentor on the fifth season of Laughter Challenge. He calls the offer "emotionally satisfying." Interestingly, he turned it down when he was approached initially. In an interview with mid-day, he tells us why.
