Ektaa Kapoor addressed the controversy around her Ozempic video, saying it was misconstrued. She denied targeting Ram Kapoor, explaining it was about body shaming before her show's promo, highlighting the issue
Ektaa Kapoor and Ram Kapoor
Ektaa Kapoor and Ram Kapoor have been at loggerheads ever since the latter spoke about the kissing scene in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. The cold war continued when Ektaa shared a video about Ozempic usage for weight loss, which many speculated was a dig at Ram Kapoor. In a recent interaction, she clarified that her statement was misconstrued.
Ektaa Kapoor clears the air
During the India Today Conclave, she said, “This was exactly one week before I launched the Bade Achhe Lagte Hain promo, where the main character tries to fit into a medium. The promo was about body shaming, self-doubt, and self-assurance. Somehow, people took my post and spun it into something completely unrelated.”
The producer of several hit shows on television further stated that even she was shocked when people linked her video to Ram Kapoor. “I don’t know where Ram Kapoor came into this. He’s not a woman, not on TV right now, and he’s actually lost a lot of weight. It’s like I’m talking about my hair, and someone says, ‘Oh, you called me bald.’ Why would I do that?" she added.
What Ektaa said about Ram Kapoor
While taking to her Instagram, Ektaa shared a video in which she asked her followers for advice about how to lose weight. She questioned her followers on whether she should take pharmaceutical drugs like Mounjaro and Ozempic, follow an anti-inflammatory diet, or just keep quiet. Later, she ended her video by saying, “Ya chhod doon, hum bade hi acche lagte hain,” which looked like a dig at Ram Kapoor, who had surprised everyone with his weight loss journey.
Soon after, Ram Kapoor’s wife, Gautami Kapoor, gave a sarcastic twist to Ektaa’s indirect dig at her husband. Before she shared this video, Ram had clarified that his weight loss is natural.
On the work front, the diva was recently present at the 71st National Film Awards ceremony as Kathal bagged honours. Expressing her excitement, she said, “Not in our wildest dreams did we think a dramedy that takes serious potshots at the establishment would actually be… not only nominated but would win from the jury — Best Film Award. It was quite shocking and quite heartening."
