In a recent interaction, Erica described the sounds of air defence activity in the city as deeply disturbing. “The sounds of interceptions are real, and they’re jarring,” she said, referring to the loud anti-missile interceptions echoing across the sky. “People around me, friends and family have been watching this unfold with their own eyes, and that’s a difficult thing to process. There’s no sugar coating it, it’s scary.”
The ongoing tensions in the region have created anxiety among residents, including expatriates. While authorities have activated air defence systems to neutralise potential threats, the atmosphere remains tense. Erica admitted that adjusting to such an environment has not been easy. However, she emphasised that she feels reassured by the measures taken by officials.
“I have to say, the UAE government has handled this incredibly well so far. Being here and seeing how quickly and effectively they’ve responded has genuinely been reassuring,” she shared. According to her, clear communication and swift action from authorities have helped residents feel safer despite the uncertainty.
