Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya won praise from fans for her grit and determination to complete tasks on Rohit Shetty’s Khatron Ke Khiladi. Now, the actress has gone on to share a post flaunting her injuries with the caption, “Edited or original? I prefer the latter. Why hide? Embrace reality.” Divyanka speaks to mid-day.com about what led to her being raw and real on social media.

Your post flaunting your injuries is inspirational. What promoted you to put up the post?
I began with editing the image. I removed all flaws but after completion I paused and wondered why do we have to fake beautify everything. If someone met me in person they'll see me in a completely different state from what's there on social media. I wanted to put across a message to say that it's okay not to look perfect. One can get dressed or put filters for one's own feel good factor but one mustn't always pose to be something else for world's judgmental eyes. In fact, may be no one's judging us except for ourselves.

Celebrities usually prefer to show their best side on camera. Did you hesitate before deciding to keep it raw and real?
There are many sides to me apart from looking glamorous, and shouldn't an actor be that way - versatile and multi-faceted? No human face or body part is good, bad or ugly. Something unacceptable at one place may be honorable for another community. Wounds may look unacceptable on an actor, but they are like medals on a soldier. It's a matter of perception. Also, I notice how people at times stress themselves out comparing their own lives with that of actors', being portrayed on social media. They must know that 'every human' undergoes a variety of emotions and hardships.

Fans are loving your strong and candid personality since Khatron ke Khiladi. What is the best compliment you got for your performance?
Best compliment for KKK was when the head of stunts in Cape Town held my hand and told me that he's become my fan. It's one of the most memorable moments for me.
