Priom Gujjar will be seen in the titular role in the upcoming family drama Lakshmi Niwas. In an exclusive conversation with mid-day Priom got candid about his upcoming character, his journey with television and more.
On bagging the lead
On bagging the show as lead, Priom shared, "I was manifesting for such a strong role. Trust me, it was on my wish list to play a role, with so many flows and emotions, no one can predict what he will be doing next. The show already airs in other languages like Kannada, Tamil and Marathi, and they are doing really well. I feel now the Hindi remake will be another hit.. I'm really very happy to join this show, which will also mark my debut in the titular role on TV screens. Earlier, I played a parallel lead, but this time the story will revolve around me.. I'm looking forward to it."
He further got candid about his character, "I wish to treat my audience with something fresh and new. They will surely enjoy the role, and I'm giving my 100 percent to make it more real.. I'm playing the role of Raj Bundela. He's at times positive and the next time grey. He's a psycho. Every action of his depends on his mood. The show focuses on a family and their lives."
When asked about the storyline, Priom shared, "I feel such shows present a cultural emphasis on collectivist values and family interdependence, where family interests often supersede individual ones, making relatable narratives about family life resonate with a vast audience. They also serve as a source of relatability and escapism, allowing viewers to see their own family dynamics, even idealised ones, reflected on screen, which can be a powerful connection to shared experiences."
Priom calls TV a blessing
Priom opens up about his journey with TV, "TV has been a blessing for me.. Once you believe in something, you are halfway there. Because when you have a dream, you have got to grab it and never let it go! As I was always a passionate lover of acting, and visualised my desire to become an actor since the age of 13! I was born and brought up in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. I came to Mumbai with no resources. TV helped me get everything, be it name, fame and money. I got everything from TV and my hard work. I see my journey with gratitude."
He was previously seen in TV shows like Shaitani Rasmein, Mithai, Kaleerein, Ishqbaaz, Main Maayke Chali Jaaungi Tum Dekhte Rahiyo, Dil Boley Oberoi and Pyar Tune Kya Kiya. The actor also featured in mythological shows like Karmadhikari Shanidev and Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran.
