Sacchin Shroff shares his fun experience shooting the Holi track in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, highlighting teamwork, improvisation, and on-set laughter, while calling Ganpati episodes most memorable and recalling his bond with Jethalal

Sacchin Shroff has been winning over audiences as Taarak Mehta in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, and the actor recently opened up about the show’s lively Holi track and the fun behind the scenes in an exclusive chat.
Recalling the festive storyline, Sacchin shared, “It was good fun. There was a challenge between Babita ji and Jetha ji. And it was just amazing.” He added that he was deeply involved in the track, saying, “I have been a part of the challenge throughout. And since Jethalal is my paramitra… whenever Jethalal gets into trouble, it’s me who comes to save him all the time.”

The actor also laughed about how his character often lands in tricky situations because of his on-screen best friend. “There are times when I have got into trouble because of Jethalal because Jethalal is already in trouble. Totally. I mean… I always have intuitions,” he said.
Talking about the Holi sequence, Sacchin pointed out a refreshing change in the storyline. “Luckily, there was no bossy angle in this because we were doing the Holi sequence. Holi usually has a holiday, but 99 percent of the times, I get stuck in this,” he explained. “Jethalal tells me that I have to meet him right now and I have to take a leave from the boss. And I have to lie to the boss. I get stuck badly in the process of lying.”
He continued, “And then sometimes the boss goes out to find me. But in this Holi sequence, there was nothing like that. There was no bossy angle because we had already shown that the Holi holiday is going on. But we have to find Babita ji.”
Describing the shoot, he said, “It was good fun because we shot in everyone’s houses, in the society, in the garden, in the temple. Everybody was scattered everywhere.” He credited the team, adding, “The writers do a fantastic job. And our directors also do an amazing job. So the teamwork finally gives a great output.”
On their behind the scenes fun
Speaking about his favourite festival on the show, Sacchin shared, “Each and every festival has its own taste, its own excitement, its own energy. But the best one I would say is, we did a Ganpati festival. And that was something which was an amazing feeling for me.” He added, “In fact, my entry was also during Ganpati. So that’s a memory for me.”
Opening up about the creative process, he said, “Whenever a scene comes, all of us sit for a reading. And obviously, the writers give us a fantastic script.” He highlighted how co-actors enhance scenes, noting, “Whatever nuances Mr. Dilip Joshi can add, or Mandar who plays Bhide, or Popatlal who is played by Shyam Bhai… everybody adds some of the other few nuances.”
He concluded with a smile, “There is a lot of physical comedy also… running around, people falling on each other. So a few things are always added so that the script becomes better and better. And honestly, we have amazing fun on the set. Because whenever we sit for the reading, sometimes it happens that we laugh and enjoy it. And it’s even more fun to shoot.”
