Munawar Faruqui has found himself in the centre of controversy yet again. After being arrested and detained multiple times, this time he has come under the radar of gangster Goldy Brar. As per the latest reports, Delhi Police arrested two shooters following an encounter in the Kalindi Kunj area in the national capital on Thursday. According to the Delhi Police, the miscreants were working at the behest of gangsters Rohit Godara, Goldy Brar, and Virender Charan, and were planning murder him.
Plan to kill Munawar Faruqui foiled
Two members of the Rohit Godara-Goldy Brar-Virender Charan gang, allegedly tasked with eliminating stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui, were arrested after a gunfight on Jaitpur-Kalindi Kunj Road here on Thursday, police said. Identified as Rahul and Sahil, the two hail from Panipat and Bhiwani of Haryana, they said. According to investigators, both men had been taking instructions from foreign-based gangster Rohit Godara, who was working with Goldy Brar and Virender Charan, to kill Faruqui.
According to the sources cited by PTI, the counter-intelligence team of Delhi Police had received information that shooters Rahul and Sahil, the accused in a triple murder case in Haryana, were recently seen near Delhi's New Friends Colony. Police set a trap to catch the two. The shooters were on a bike near Pushta Road around 3 am when police asked them to stop. But they opened fire on the police party. The cops retaliated, shooting the criminals in the leg before taking them into custody.
As per the police, for the past few days, they had been conducting a recce of their targets in Mumbai and Bengaluru. In fact, sources said, the shooters had planned to target Faruqui in Bengaluru and were waiting for him outside an event venue. But Faruqui left in a different car, and this foiled the plan. Both injured criminals have been taken to the hospital for treatment. Further investigation is underway.

Faruqui won reality show Bigg Boss in 2024 and has 14.2 million followers on Instagram. The 33-year-old comedian has been in trouble in the past for his jokes on Hindu deities. In 2021, he was arrested in Madhya Pradesh. Last year, the comedian was detained during a Mumbai Police raid on an illegal Hookah Bar. He was later released on bail.
