Ahead of its launch on 18th August at 9 PM on Sony SAB, Itti Si Khushi is building intrigue with its heartfelt story and the compelling portrayal of its strong lead character, Anvita Divekar, played by Sumbul Touqeer Khan. The show follows Anvita’s journey as a determined young woman who carries her family’s struggles with quiet strength.
Sumbul talks about developing her motherly instincts
While shooting for one of the sequences, Sumbul found herself reliving a special off-screen memory that mirrored her character’s emotions. Raised by a single parent, Sumbul embraced the role of a mother, caring deeply for her younger sister, Saniya, and becoming her constant source of guidance. The memory of this real-life bond was ignited during the shoot of a recent scene where Anvita is seen teaching and helping her younger sister with her homework. The moment instantly took Sumbul down memory lane, reminding her of the countless times Saniya would seek her opinion, no matter how small the decision much like a child seeks his/her mother’s nod.
Wanting to share this special connection with her fans, Sumbul took to Instagram and wrote: "Some scenes have a way of blurring the lines between reel and real. While filming a scene for Itti Si Khushi as Anvita, where I'm teaching and helping my sibling with homework, I was instantly reminded of how my real younger sister, Saniya, would always turn to me for the smallest decisions - much like a child seeking their mother’s nod."
On sharing about her personal struggles
Sumbul further shared about the similarities in her character with her personal life and her struggles, “The way Anvita silently shoulders her family’s pain, treating it as her responsibility rather than a burden, truly resonates with me. It’s a role that not only challenges my craft but also gives me a rare opportunity to bring fragments of my life to the screen. There was a time when life felt uncertain, and I was striving to create a better future for my father, my sister Saniya, and our family. Just like Anvita, I believe strength comes from persistence, and that’s a philosophy I embody in my own life.”
