Actor Sunil Lahiri, best known for playing Lakshman in the iconic television series Ramayan, recently opened up about a strange and unsettling fan encounter that left him surprised. Sharing the incident in a video on social media, the veteran actor recalled how a man attempted to gain entry into his residential building by falsely claiming to be his relative.

Sunil Lahiri shares a disturbing incident

According to Lahiri, the incident took place recently when an unknown individual arrived at his building and told security personnel that he was the actor’s brother. However, the security staff grew suspicious and verified his identity, eventually discovering that the man was lying. He was promptly denied entry, preventing any potential trouble.

The unusual episode triggered memories of a similar experience from the late 1980s, during the shooting of Ramayan. Lahiri shared that he had been filming under the sun for long hours and had taken a short break of a few days. During that time, his appearance had changed significantly from his on-screen look, making him less recognisable.

Recalling the incident, Lahiri said that while he was walking near the studio gate, a man approached him asking to meet Sunil Lahiri. When questioned about his identity, the stranger confidently claimed to be the actor’s brother from Bhopal. What made the situation ironic was that the man failed to recognise Lahiri himself, despite speaking to him directly.

The actor found the moment both amusing and bizarre, highlighting how intense fan admiration can sometimes lead to unusual situations. He reflected on how such incidents reveal the unpredictable nature of fame, where admirers often go to great lengths to meet their favourite stars.

On the work front

Lahiri concluded his anecdote on a philosophical note, suggesting that life often brings unexpected encounters and that timing plays a key role in how relationships—real or perceived—are formed. He also advised fans to stay safe and grounded.

The story has since resonated with fans online, offering a glimpse into the kind of overwhelming popularity actors experienced during the golden era of Indian television, particularly during the massive success of Ramayan.
