When Renuka Shahane began reading the script of Aga Aai Aaho Aai, she was taken by the series’ intent to challenge the stereotypes attached to a relationship between a woman and her mother-in-law. The Zee 5 series, where Shahane plays the bride’s mother, explores the friendship between the three women.

The actor reflected, “I loved this concept of treating the mother-in-law and the woman differently from the mould we have seen a million times, where they are pitted against each other. The show celebrates them coming together. It’s an important part of our reality that is never shown. Of course, there are cases where the other way around is true.”
