Dhanashree Verma, a choreographer and digital designer who is presently a contestant on the reality show Rise And Fall, made news for openly discussing her marriage to cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal.
Dhanashree makes a shocking revelation
During a casual breakfast chat with actor Kubbra Sait, Dhanashree Verma was asked, "When did you realise in your relationship that, 'Bhai, yeh nahi chal sakta, yeh mistake ho gaya hai abhi?'" She replied without hesitation, "First year." We caught him in the second month. The discovery left Kubbra obviously surprised, and the video quickly spread online.
Last week, on the same show, Dhanashree discussed her divorce from Yuzvendra Chahal and denied rumors of large alimony payments. She informed the host, Aditya Narayan, that it had been nearly a year officially. Dhanashree went on to say that when people said she had taken 'alimony'. It was wrong because it was a joint agreement. Dhanashree is quoted as saying, "Officially, it has been almost a year. It happened quickly because it was mutual, that’s why when people say alimony, it’s wrong. Just because I am not saying anything, you will go on saying anything? My parents have taught me to only justify to people whom I care about. Why waste time explaining those who don’t even know you?"
Dhanashree reacts to alimony accusations
Dhanashree also discussed their marriage, revealing that she had been married to Yuzvendra for years and had previously dated him for 6-7 months. She even denied the accusation of wanting Rs. 60 crore in alimony. She felt horrible and didn't understand why he did that. She did, however, say that she would always respect him. She said, "Eventually, you get hurt when you see that happening. It was not needed. None of it is true. I felt worse wondering why did he do it? It’s okay, I will always keep his respect, that is what I believe in. Now, I don’t think I can date anybody."
The friendship between Dhanashree Verma and Yuzvendra Chahal began during the COVID-19 lockdown. Yuzvendra Chahal enrolled in Dhanashree Verma's online dancing sessions, which eventually led to a personal friendship. They were engaged on August 8, 2020, and married in an intimate ceremony on December 22, 2020, in Gurugram. Their early years together were marked by social media posts, joint dance videos, and public appearances at cricket events, resulting in a picture-perfect marriage.
By 2023, issues began to appear. Dhanashree Verma removed the word "Chahal" from her Instagram name, fueling separation rumours. Their encounters in public also decreased dramatically. According to reports, the couple had been living separately since June 2022 and had jointly decided to file for divorce in February 2025. On March 20, 2025, the Mumbai family court officially finalised their separation.
