Television's much-loved show 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' (TMKOC) through its latest story has attempted to sensitize viewers on the subject of hoarding, black marketing and adulteration. Amidst the ongoing Covid-19 crises, the country is facing several challenges including a shortage of specific drugs and medical equipment. Taking advantage of this gap in supply and demand, fraudsters are trying to manipulate the market to make a quick buck out of helpless people’s adversities.

In its latest episodes, 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' depicts one such scenario in which Gokuldhaam Society’s Popatlal learns about a particular syndicate that is hoarding as well as selling spurious supplies of medicines and medical equipment. As any honest journalist would do, Popatlal immediately springs into action and decides to investigate the crime. He along with one of his colleagues and also Dr Haathi form a team to carry out a sting operation to learn about the source of the crime.
