Emmy and BAFTA-winning spy series "Slow Horses", starring British veteran <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/entertainment/hollywood-news/article/gary-oldman-reacts-to-his-knighthood-says-oscar-pales-in-comparison-to-the-honour-23596837" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Gary Oldman</a>, will return for an eighth season, streamer Apple TV has announced.
The announcement comes ahead of the premiere of the show's sixth season on September 16, with a seventh season already announced.
The six-episode season will be adapted from "Clown Town", the ninth novel in author Mick Herron's "Slough House" book series, Apple TV said in a statement.
Season eight will see Jackson Lamb, played by Academy Award winner Oldman, and MI5 second-in-command Diana Taverner (Kristin Scott Thomas) face off in what the streamer describes as their most explosive confrontation yet.
According to the official synopsis, when a botched attempt to blackmail the Park puts Taverner on the offensive, Lamb must unravel one of MI5's darkest secrets and put an end to it.
"'Slow Horses' continues to charm audiences all around the world and I'm delighted that Jackson Lamb and his gang of lovable misfits will be back for an eighth season," said Jay Hunt, creative director, International, Apple TV.
"Their acerbic take on the high-octane world of espionage is completely unique," she added.
"Slow Horses" follows a dysfunctional group of British intelligence agents who are relegated to Slough House, a dumping-ground department of MI5, after career-ending mistakes. Oldman stars as Lamb, the brilliant but cantankerous leader of the group.
On Tuesday, the series won <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/entertainment/web-series/article/emmy-awards-2026-winners-list-the-pitt-widows-bay-win-top-honours-23650051" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">three Emmy Awards</a>, including two for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series and one for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.
Oldman has received Golden Globe, Emmy and BAFTA Award nominations for his performance as Lamb.
Season eight will be adapted for television and executive produced by Ben Vanstone, with Adam Randall returning as director.
"Slow Horses" is produced for Apple TV by See-Saw Films, with Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Douglas Urbanski, Randall, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Gail Mutrux, Billy Bowring, Helen Gregory, Herron and Oldman serving as executive producers.&nbsp;
