Pune-based author Pratima Kapur recently released her book, Tapestry, which was launched by Bollywood composer Vishal Dadlani. Tapestry revolves around four women in modern India, who were fortunate to have lived life on their own terms, with the freedom to make choices for themselves. the guide chats with the first-time author to know more about her new book:

Background Kapur is a Puneite who was born in the city, travelled a lot, but eventually chose Pune as home.
Talking about her book, Kapur says, &ldquo;It&rsquo;s an attempt to show the life of an army man&rsquo;s wife and other social circles with a fictional touch. The main plot is about four women friends who drift apart with time but when reunited, how their equation changes due to different tragedies. We can call the book a work of fiction but with a touch of reality. I had started to pen down the book back in 2005 but had to take a long break due to my&nbsp;mother&rsquo;s sickness. I was writing the book on and off for all these years and now I&rsquo;m very glad that it&rsquo;s&nbsp;finally out.&rdquo;
A graphic designer by profession, Kapur has also designed the book cover. She is also a painter and does most of her work in acrylic.
Turning author at 60 Kapur believes that it&rsquo;s never too late to do something new. &ldquo;When I joined a computer graphics course, I was the oldest student in the class but I must say there is nothing to be ashamed of if you want to learn something. Today, society has become more evolved; many people encourage you in your endeavours. I never had thought that one day I would write a book but it happened and age was no hurdle. It feels great to be in my 60s and write my first book,&rdquo; she says.
Future plan Kapur has already penned down her next book which is a family story of four generations.
