This weekend, catch a theatre performance like no other. Arcadia: The Promised Land, directed by Omkar Bhatkar, deals with gerontology, or the process of ageing.
&ldquo;Ageing is a dark theme, one which we don&rsquo;t usually talk about. For this theatre piece, I spoke to ageing people to understand how the process transforms them,&rdquo; says Bhatkar. The result is a collection of about 15 poems, written from these very real experiences, which will be performed on stage by eight actors.
&ldquo;We decided to convert these experiences into poems, as poetry is a nicer way of narrating a harsh truth,&rdquo; he adds. The 70-minute performance will deal with the various aspects of ageing and death, and will be accompanied by guitar music.
The piece opened last weekend at Havana Caf&eacute; &amp; Bar in Colaba, the city&rsquo;s newest performance venue.
