Q. How did you get interested in art? How was your journey? A. Life has been tough; mistakes have been my guide. When I was 14 (I am 26 years old now), my family realised the seriousness of my condition (I was born with Herodo Macular Degeneration and am blessed with 25% vision). Till the time I was diagnosed, I was largely misunderstood. So, loneliness has been a part of my life.

I almost had a breakdown but an unexpected twist took place at the time.
Painting was something I never imagined doing and that, too, while battling such a condition. I started painting as an attempt to get to know colours. I owe a lot to Donavan Fernandes, my gym instructor, who encouraged me.

Q. What are the challenges that you faced in your quest to paint? A. I am not a trained artist, so I had no idea of what materials to use and how to paint acrylic on canvas artworks. Plus, while painting, my eyes have to go through a lot of pressure. It is difficult but I push myself. The rest is a miracle.

Q. What are the highlights of this exhibition in terms of the artworks you are showcasing? A. The theme is The Voyage. It is about my journey and my ideas of how things should be in society. The message I wish to convey is that we all are equal. And, every experience of life, if taken positively, makes us stronger and better individuals.
