Film, theatre or science, understand the nuances of different fields from experts of the respective genres at Mumbai Local, a community arts initiative by theatre group Junoon, starting today. Mumbai Local will offer Mumbaiites monthly programming that includes talks and presentations at public spaces in convenient localities across different areas of the city.

Hence, these workshops, which are free to attend, will see people from different neighbourhoods come together and engage in new conversations. Currently, these sessions will take place at four venues — MCubed Library in Bandra (W), Dr Bhau Daji Lad Museum in Byculla, Kitab Khana at Fort and Somaiya School in Vidyavihar. They intend to branch out, gradually, to different neighbourhoods in the city. This month’s sessions will witness theatre actor and film director Rajat Kapoor, physicist Dr R Vijayaraghavan, and molecular biologist Dr Srilaja Nair talk about topics such as quantum physics and cinema. Next month’s line-up includes documentary filmmaker Ajay Naronha and educator and drama therapist Ben Rivers.
