11 am-7 pm: The busy streets of Mumbai, Mother Teresa and Ganesha idols find their way in artist Ajay De’s latest exhibition titled Charcoal Works. The sheer magic of charcoal and his control over his unusual technique, involving the delicate use of the thumb and fingers, lends a stunning effect to the paintings. De’s choice of subjects is as varied as his imaginative landscape — streets of Kolkata, old mansions, Mother Teresa, Lord Buddha, figurative works, hand-pulled rickshaws, immersions in the Ganges, Mumbai landmarks, faces, reflections, the monsoons and more.
