While Bharatanatyam and Kathak dancers look beautiful in their costumes, putting that make-up on is not a mean job. To teach interested folks about the nuances of performance make-up, Meghana Sabade of Nrityayatri has organised a workshop in Pune

Dance performances are not just about what transpires on the stage but also encompass several activities that happen behind the curtains. Choosing the right costume, applying the right make-up and settling for the perfect presentation is paramount for a good performance. Keeping this in mind, Meghana Sabade, director of Nrityayatri and a trained Bharatanatyam dancer, has organised a workshop that will focus on make-up techniques useful for performers. “Expertise in make-up related to special dance forms like Bharatanatyam and Kathak are still scarce in the city. This workshop will be beneficial for the participants and can provide them with an opportunity to look at it as a career option,” says Sabade.
