The official teaser for The Devil Wears Prada 2 has been released, marking the much-anticipated return of one of pop culture’s most iconic films.
The Devil Wears Prada
The original The Devil Wears Prada novel, written by Lauren Weisberger, was released in 2003 and remained on The New York Times bestseller list for over six months. The book inspired the 2006 film starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt, which went on to become a cultural phenomenon.
Sequels
Lauren Weisberger later published two sequels — Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns, published in 2013, and When Life Gives You Lululemons, published in 2018 — expanding the story’s universe beyond its first part.
Lauren Weisberger
Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, in 1977, Weisberger majored in English at Cornell University. After graduation, she backpacked through Europe, the Middle East, and Asia before returning to the US, where she worked as an assistant to Vogue editor Anna Wintour. Though she only worked there for ten months, her experience reportedly inspired the world of The Devil Wears Prada and the character of Miranda Priestly — though Weisberger has never confirmed this connection.
Musical adaptation
In 2017, a musical adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada was announced, with Sir Elton John as composer and Paul Rudnick as lyricist and story writer. The musical premiered in July 2022 and debuted in the UK in 2023.
After its grand success, the film’s sequel is set to release on May 1, 2026, reuniting Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt two decades after the original.
