Approaching Abstraction The exhibition explores the contributions made by women artists from South Asia to the tradition of abstraction in the late 1970s and 80s.

This generation of women embraced weaving, pottery, photography, video and performance, as alternatives to painting and sculpture. For them, the medium was a vehicle for messages of resistance. Through this show, well-established artists, such as Arpita Singh (born 1937), rub shoulders with emerging women artists like Ayesha Sultana (born 1985). A Journey of Secrets The debut solo of New York-based artist Samanta Batra Mehta spans prints, drawings, installation and photography. His art is characterised by an intertwining of the human form and nature, realised as black and white drawings.

Memory of Red The exhibition features artworks by Mumbai-based artist Smriti Dixit, which are born out of her experiences with everyday life. Check out wall and floor installations, mixed media works, video, and a series of miniature books.
