On the first anniversary of The Big Door at Khar, you can sign up for a unique heritage walk at their store, apart from gazing at their new additions including watercolour artworks, a menswear collection and a collection of luxury trunks

It has been a year since The Big Door opened its huge, bottle green doors to the public. Started by collector Vivek Gupta, the spacious shop that spans two levels offers limited edition, customised artefacts made by karigars. While some of the products are at least 100 years old, others serve a contemporary function while being designed on the lines of antiques. Heritage walks were held at the store (October 10-12) with another series coming up soon. Apart from this, here are the new inclusions:

The store offers a ‘first look’ of watercolour flower paintings by Jaipur-based artist Manju Srivatsa. Originally from Mumbai, she pursued banking for 32 years and has nurtured her passion for art over the last three years. This marks her first showcase in the city. “I’ve been fascinated by the beauty of flowers; they talk to me. The best expression of emotion happens with the help of flowers so, it’s the perfect gift. Whether the occasion is sad or happy, a break-up, a wedding, or even for our prayers, we offer flowers,” she elaborates.
