The 2023 edition of Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI has launched after its curtain raiser last night which saw glamorous ensembles on the runway by Raw Mango. The opening event also showed the newly launched Lakmé Glitterati range.

The presence of celebrities like Karisma Kapoor, Kalki Koechlin and Saba Azad added more glitter to the opening night where the three ladies played muse for Raw Mango designer Sanjay Garg. All three ladies wore elegant and shiny silhouettes in fresh styles.

The brand launched its new collection titled ‘Children of the Night’. It celebrates carefree confidence and unapologetic elegance, drawing inspiration from the enigmatic world that comes alive after dark, drawing from the haven of darkness.

Commenting on the collection, Garg the creative visionary behind Raw Mango, says, “Each garment includes innovations in textiles, including brocade imparting a sense of knitwear, kaleidoscopic weaves and an incredible range of gleaming metallics.” This was reflected on the runway when models dressed in style donning dazzling ensembles.

The line-up for the first day of the week also looks exciting. The day will open with ‘INIFD presents GenNext’ under which three promising new designers, namely Arnav Malhotra (No Grey Area), Sonam Khetan (Sonam Khetan) and Prasoon Sharma (Triune),
will be showcasing their collections.

This will be followed by Samant Chauhan presenting his collection titled ‘Ice Watch’ inspired by the beauty and fragility of glaciers. The collection resonates with a profound message, reminding us of the threat that global warming poses to these wonders.

Further, NoughtOne is all set to invite the audience to experience the world of motorcycles and MotoGP through an elaborate curation of clothes and music. Its collection will offer a whole biking experience in functional and comfortable silhouettes meant for the streets.

Another fashion label, Geisha Designs founded by Paras and Shalini is all set to launch 'Profusion: Harmonic Tapestry of Nature's Symphony.' It is a cocktail evening wear collection that draws its inspiration from the textures and myriad colours of crystallised stones. Paras and Shalini say, "Geisha Designs’ journey through this collection - Profusion, celebrates a symphony of colours, an ode to the organic patterns and lines that have shaped our world."
The silhouettes of Profusion are a modern reinterpretation of traditional drapes, offering a fresh take on the timeless elegance of the sari.

The label has been presenting at the Lakme Fashion Week since 2003 and has also been showcasing collections at the Paris Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week.

Highlighting the relevance of Lakme Fashion Week, the designers say, “The event has grown over the years. What started as an annual celebration is today a serious “Business of Fashion” platform which pushes us to create a new collection each season and allows us to interact with buyers.
It’s a beautifully curated event, each season with a new avatar, allowing five days of business, brand positioning and direct B2C sales housing the best of Indian fashion under a single umbrella.”

Another talented designer Ashish N Soni will present ‘The Retro Orchard’. Through this collection, the designer attempts to evoke a feeling of an era. It will see retro styles mainly from the 70s with bold colours and patterns taking the centre stage.

Further, Varun Bahl's Festive collection for Fall 2023, is an extension of the couture collection, ‘Inner Bloom’ that invites one into a world where nature's beauty intertwines with 20 years of fashion expertise. It celebrates hope and renewal through the universal symbol of flowers, meticulously brought to life with 3-dimensional embroideries, opulent materials, and masterful craftsmanship. Every look includes a small up-cycled collection, promoting the repurposing of materials, hence this collection also features patchwork crafted from borders and 3-D floral patches.
