'My best pal is wary of my boyfriend...'

Dear Diana

Dear Diana,
My best friend is proving to be a hinderence in my love story. Ever since I announced that I'm moving to Baroda as my boyfriend stays there, she has thrown a fit. She feels I am going too fast with him. She has been my best buddy since childhood and there is nothing we hide from each other. I've been spending a lot of time of late with my guy — online, to be precise — and he has become my main priority, after my career. I'm excited about all the new things starting in my life, but my best friend is not dealing with it well. She thinks I could do better and find someone else.

Dear Ingrid,
As you are spending time with this guy (even if online) and will soon be relocating to be with him, she is feeling left out. She feels she will lose you to him. Perhaps she thinks she has competition in being close to you. You need to tell her that just because you are getting close to this guy, it will not affect your friendship with her. At the same time give her a patient hearing why she thinks this guy is not suitable for you. Weigh the pros and cons and then accordingly decide whether there is any truth in what she is saying.

Dear Diana,
I'm 25 and my boyfriend is 28. We used to be very intimate, but he has changed a lot since we moved in together. I think it's because he finds me annoying. He is constantly brushing me off. Is it me or is there someone else?
— Reeva

Dear Reeva,
As you have started living in and perhaps spend a greater part of the day with him, he finds you annoying. It may be as you are constantly together. Give each other space instead of always being with him. Also, ask him about the sudden change in behaviour. Find out what is causing him to find you irritating before you jump to conclusions.
