Dear Diana,
I’ve been grappling with depression for the past three years. Recently, I spent a few days with a couple of college friends whom I hadn’t seen for years. They had planned a reunion in Goa. My depression vanished. I now realise that my problem is the people I’m surrounded by every day — especially my girlfriend. Her constant moaning and negativity just brings me down.

Dear Suveer,
The college reunion certainly seems to have done you a world of good. This is why it is important to have buddies who have no expectations from you. Those who are always there for you even though you might not meet often. The trip has cleared your mind and you have realised that your mental state is due to the constant cribbing by those near and dear to you. Tell them how you feel by what is going on, especially your girlfriend. If you think she is too overdemanding and difficult, you need to do a serious rethink about the relationship.
