Check out beautiful and appealing silk products at the Silk Expo that is currently underway in the Pune
If you are a silk connoisseur or just like making a statement with silk garments, there is good news for you. Silk Mark Organization of India has organised a Silk Expo in the city is featuring 40 stalls of exhibitors, who are showcasing products from different states.
“India has a rich heritage in silk weaving, dyeing, printing, embroidery, and craftsmanship supported by a strong domestic market. India is the largest consumer of silk and the second largest producer of silk in the world.
People can get authentic silk here as well understand the process by which silk is prepared,” says RB Tandav, senior executive, Silk Mark Organisation of India.

Consumers will be able to see a wide range of products under one roof. Along with silk sarees, the exhibition also showcases silk used in products like clutches, bags, pillow covers as well as printed dress materials.
The exhibitors participating in this expo are from far flung weaving centers of India. Only authorized users are allowed to participate in the expo. Products are tagged with silk mark label to ensure purity of silk.

In order to contain the menace of unethical trade practices from unscrupulous manufacturers and traders of cheaper substitutes, The Silk Mark Organization of India under the initiative of Ministry of Textiles, Government of India had introduced Silk Mark scheme in Pune in 2007.
