Explore legendary author Saadat Hasan Manto’s works at an event, titled Manto and His Mumbai. Organised by Urduwallahs, a group dedicated to learning, understanding and discussing Urdu. The event, which will be held at Neel restaurant, will focus on Manto and his experiences in Mumbai.

Manto had spent his formative years in the city and he considered it to be some of the most enjoyable days of his life. He lived in Byculla’s Claire Road neighbourhood and a lot of his work showcases life in the 1940’s Bombay.
At the event, there will be a blend of Urdu and English readings by the Urduwallahs based on the life of Manto and his works, which use the city as the backdrop. It will be followed with a Manto-themed tasting menu from the Neel kitchen, which will blend in Manto’s background and personality with the inherent Mumbai palate and flavours.
Neel’s Chef Mukhtar along with Rahul Akerkar have customised the menu keeping in mind Manto, his culture and the great heritage. The special menu includes Mozail Ki Machli, Nizami Tawa Pomfret with Pyaaz Aur Chakundar ka Salad, Pairan ki Paneer Akuri with Ambade ka Saag and Maska Pao, Mammad Bhai ka Murg Bohri Masala Biryani with Burhani Raita and Murg ka Salan, Bhendi Bazaar ka Malpua, Lahori Sheer Beren and Manto ka Kashmiri Kahva.
