A 23-year-old city teacher, who hails from Ajmer in Rajasthan, is on a mission. He is all set to participate in a world-widecause through an expedition for a better, responsible and sustainable tomorrow. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/jan/Antarctica_1.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 270px;" /> Antarctica is considered to be the last great wilderness on earth Anurag Maloo has been selected as a team member on the International Antarctic Expedition (IAE 2013) which will take place from 28 February to March 13, this year. Along with the carefully selected team, he will explore the Antarctic Peninsula with the onboard experts to acquire first-hand knowledge of the continent&rsquo;s fragile ecosystem, experience its unique wildlife and observe the magnificent landscape of Antarctica, all the while learning about climate change, sustainability and what we can do to protect the last great wilderness on earth. A streak of social awareness Maloo, who is a software engineer by profession, turned into a teacher for a PMC school in Yerawada. He is also keen on going for the International Antarctic Expedition under Sir Robert Swan in his Mission 2041. Talking about the expedition, he says, &ldquo;This expedition is a life mission for me. Through this I wish to contribute towards the environment. After coming back from the tour and analysing the critical situation over there, I can tell the younger generation about the environmental scenario in our country and how they can contribute towards saving mother earth. My objective is to engage them in life-learning experiences. Each human being has the potential to discover what they are truly passionate about in life and to become a life-long learner.&rdquo; Maloo&rsquo;s expedition will incur an expenditure of Rs 13 lakhs including the cost of expedition, airfare, clothing and visa for which he is looking for funds.u00a0 International Antarctic Expedition and Mission 2041 Sir Robert Swan was the first person in history to walk unaided to both the North and South poles. He dedicated his life for the preservation of Antarctica by promoting recycling, renewable energy and sustainability. He is the founder of Mission 2041 whose motto is no drilling, no mining. The Antarctic Treaty comes up for review in the year 2041.
