Kalyani Nagar, up-market residential locale as it is, finally has a new restaurant after ages. Based in a ground-floor shop space in an up-coming building, Amore Italia is a basic, vegetarian caf ufffd that serves soups, sandwiches, salads and pasta.

No aerated drinks and no tomato ketchup to go with your meals. This is fast food that aims at being simple, healthy and unadulterated by ingredients that mask original flavours. The caf ufffd that can seat 20 people at a stretch, has a menu with approximately five options within each of the above categories. We begin with the soup of the day, Celery Infused Corn Soup (Rs 45). This tastes straight of out an international brand's vacuum pack, with a hint of fresh celery added to it. Since we like the brand anyway, we quite enjoyed our creamy
corn soup.

Next, we tried a Potato Arrosti (Rs 55) -- a roasted, garlic-infused potato salad with rocket, lettuce and peppers. We enjoyed the fresh flavours of oregano and garlic coupled with the crunch of the veggies. This is followed by a recommendation -- Amore House Panini (Rs 75). This is a cold sandwich that we would recommend only to true blue veggie lovers, for it comes with grilled eggplant, peppers, artichokes, lettuce and a thick slice of cheese. You can taste each of the vegetables that have gone into it and that made it unusual.
Finally, we opted for a Penne Pesto (Rs 75). We appreciate that the pasta was just al dente but we would have loved our pesto to be without cream and with some crunch instead. It went well with the two slices of crunchy, hot Garlic Bread (Rs 30).

Amore Italia didn't have any desserts yet but we quite enjoyed the lemon slush (that they called a smoothie). It made for a refreshing cooler on a very hot afternoon. All portions here are served in simple bowls that make them just right for an individual meal.u00a0

It's the sort of place that aims at a quick lunch for the neighbouring offices or an evening bite for the residents around. The service needs to be brushed up but we hope that they will have that sorted soon. With their price points as low as they are and a fresh, quick meal, we can see them living up to their target audience.u00a0u00a0u00a0u00a0
