Recycled Installations is an exhibition of sculptures displaying rare insects and animals, made from waste materials. Sukant Panigrahy, the artist known for his penchant for such work in the field of art direction is the hand behind these carefully carved artifacts. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/dec/Rare-species-of-beetle.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 444px;" /> Rare species of beetle The exhibition features endangered species of animals and insects that are not easily seen in routine life. &ldquo;I have made 7-8 such statuettes that include insects like dragonfly, mentis, butterfly, beetle, grasshopper, spider, etc. I have made them using waste materials ranging from plastic to metal and toys,&rdquo; says the internationally recognised artist. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/dec/Recycled-Installations-feat.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 357px;" /> Recycled Installations features exhibits of rare insects To make these statues that are about 2 feet by 3 feet of size; Panigrahy took almost 2-3 months and worked at his workshop in Mumbai. The artist believes that this exhibition is especially targetted at children and will make them realise the intensity of the continuous loss of many such species on earth. It will also enlighten them about waste materials and how they can be recycled for the better ment of nature. Panigrahy adds, &ldquo;I think children are more receptive towards such sensitive issues. More so, while I was making these sculptures, many kids came and gave me their used toys willingly. But not only kids, everyone needs to be told about the adverse effects of a polluted environment which is leading to the loss of many beautiful species and also affecting our environment immensely. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/dec/An-exhibit-on-display.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 226px;" /> An exhibit on display The second aspect I want to highlight through this exhibition is the amount of waste material generated which is increasing with every passing day and we need to avoid their use or at least recycle them.
