It is World Diabetes Day on November 14, and the fact that you're sitting while reading this is bad enough, says a new study. Research conducted on almost eight lakh participants in the UK says even your daily dose of exercise may not save you from diabetes, heart disease and premature death if you continue sitting for long hours during the day. Must we be alarmed at yet another piece of research that rings the death knell?
Mornings begin with a blast of energy as you pump iron for over an hour at the gym. That metallic whiff of dumbbells must feel great, because it means you are burning the previous night’s binge-fest. Your muscles stretch dutifully; your face isflushed.
