It was great winning the National Award especially because people did not accept me as a cameraperson. I was sidelined, as I did movies that were not a part of the mainstream cinema. But I felt that content mattered. When I started shooting with the Canon 5D camera, people thought I wouldn’t be able to do it. But my movies have gone to international festivals and that itself speaks about the quality of my work. This award gave us the recognition we wanted in our country.
