The season of smart phone launches does not yet seem to be over for Oppo. Just weeks after the launch of Mirror 5 and R5s, the Chinese smart phone maker on Friday unveiled two new models, the R7 Plus and the R7 Lite in Mumbai.

Priced at R29,990, the Rs 7 Plus is Oppo&rsquo;s latest flagship model and comes with 6-inch Full HD Super Amoled display and a finger print sensor at the back. The R7, on the other hand, is priced lower at R17,990, and features a 5-inch HD display (1280x720).

Both the devices were unveiled by Oppo's new India CEO, Mike Wang. The latest phablet in town, the R7 Plus has several features to brag about including its 13MP rear camera based on Sony IMX278 sensor and the 8MP front camera. Both cameras seemed impressive at the launch.

As for the computing power, the R7 Plus relies on Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SOC with 1.5 GHz Octa-core 64-bit professor and 3GB RAM. The built-in storage is 32GB, which can be expanded up to 128GB. The R7 Plus is powered by a 4,100mAh inbuilt lithium-polymer battery, and is capable of delivering two hours talk time in just five minutes of charging, a feature that may come handy for those in rush.
As for the R7 Lite, we like its build and slim design, but the AMOLED display leaves much to ask for. From the first impression of the R7 Lite, its 294 ppi pixel density just doesn&rsquo;t cut the mark as we could see the pixels on the screen. However, the R7 Lite&rsquo;s 13 MP rear and 8 MP front camera may be worth a deal (we will be able to share more details once we get the review unit).
However, like the R7 Plus, the R7 Lite also runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SOC, but features a slightly under-clocked 1.3GHz octa-core processor and 2GB RAM. The built-in storage is also low at 16GB and is expandable. The R7 Lite also packs a slightly weaker 2,320mAh battery. Both the devices support 4G LTE and will be available in India via its retail stores. Oppo runs ColorOS 2.1, a customised OS built on Android Lollipop 5.1 OS in its devices.
With the R7 Plus and R7 Lite, Oppo now has 17 models available in the Indian market, including flagship models such as the Mirror 5, N3, R5 and Find 7. There are also rumours of the company launching a new device, the Find 9 some time soon. Watch out the space for more details.
