Working in the media business has fine-tuned our ability to be curious to a whole new level altogether. So, when we spotted a white-walled structure under construction in the essentially residential area of Model Town, our journalistic antennae perked up in finding out what lay in store behind the tin fortress. Pics/ Pradeep Dhivar When we reached Levo, the first thing that struck us (and not very pleasantly) was the huge plastic-vinyl sheet hung outside, stating that Levo is not just a fine-dine, but offers banquet services as well. For a top-notch place, the tacky vinyl was a total killjoy and distracted us from the aesthetics that should be attached to a fancy place. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/sep/24K133125.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 228px;" /> Pan-fried Basa came with a well-prepared portion of mashed potatoes Once we entered, we forgot all our qualms. Levo enjoys the luxury of space and the interiors exude class. The al fresco section, although in operation, is still under construction. A friendly staff welcomed us and we started scanning the menu. Since they are yet to obtain an alcohol permit (they should have it by next week), we decided to concentrate on the food. Proceeding to order, we called for a Lemon Garlic Chicken (Rs 400), Pizza Margarita (Rs 450) and Pan-fried Basa (Rs 650). We had classic melodies, like Que Sera Sera, playing in the background for company till we were served a rich tomato soup, a complimentary drink by the chef. We were impressed. Finally, we were served our brilliantly presented food, which was even better in taste. The chicken was succulent with just the right amount of tang. The grilled fish that was served with a portion of mashed potatoes and a mustard dip was tender and melt-in-the-mouth wholesome. Even the mashed potatoes with garlic and thyme, satiated the foodie within us. On the other hand, the thin-crust pizza was simple-yet-flavoursome. While we loved the food, we were a tad disappointed with the tiny portions.
