October 2 to 8 marks the annual Joy of Giving Week. As part of this occasion, this weekend you can catch an exhibition-cum-sale featuring products made by NGOs from across the city. On display will be bags, hand-woven clothes and more, with an aim to collect donations. Titled as the Art and Craft Fair, it will feature 17 NGOs who will be participating in the two-day long affair. Talking about the event, organiser Shuchita Basu, said, &ldquo;The aim of the event is building awareness and boosting the sale of products. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/oct/joy-of-giving.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 279px;" /> There will be various events at the fairu00a0 This fair is different from others as we are not charging anything from the NGOs and all the money collected will go to the NGOs. Many organisations across the state will also be participating in it. It will be helpful to NGOs like Devrai Art Village which deals with the tribal populace of their area but do not get exposure in urban areas.&rdquo; <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/oct/Art-and-Craft-fair.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 371px;" /> The Joy of Giving Week will include an NGO fairu00a0 To attract visitors, activities like flash mobs and a community drum circle by Taal Inc have also been lined up. Organisations like the Poona Blind Men&rsquo;s Association will participate in the drum circle while students of Bishop School will be participating in the flash mob along with the visitors. Make a wish The event will also have two Wish Trees set up at the venue where NGOs can place their requirement, ranging from monetary help to need for volunteers. Visitors interested in helping them can pick up a leaf and help fulfill the NGO&rsquo;s wish.u00a0The NGOs participating in the fair include Swaach, Devrai Art Village, Kamayani, Navkshitij, Hope for Children Foundation, Akanksha, Smile, Vidyadan Foundation for Education, Strimukti Sanghatana, Warsaa, Seva Vardhini/Swaroop Vardhini, Sewa Sehyog, Idea Foundation, Jagriti and University Women&rsquo;s Foundation, among others. Workshops to prevent sexual harassment Another activity as part of the Joy of Giving Week isu00a0R-Vow workshops, organised to create awareness about violence against women and offer different ways to fight it. These workshops will go on till October 8, where the issue of sexual harassment of women in workplaces, be it in schools, NGOs, hotels or any other set-up, will be taken up by advocate Divya Chavan. The objective of these workshops is to mitigate the incidents of sexual harassment, sensitise individuals and spread awareness about the rights of women, as per the Constitution. This workshop is not just targetted at women but is also advised for every individual who is interested in preventing such crimes from taking place and want to be aware of how to handle such a situation.
