A year-old venture, Brownie Points delivers deliciously crumbly brownies to your doorstep without a delivery charge

When we say we crave brownies and other such goodies at unearthly hours we are nearly sure we aren't the only ones. Also, these are the sort of cravings that can sometimes go on for days without being satiated by run-of-the-mill chain-made brownies that miss out on the quintessential crumble and the chewiness. Homemade options in such cases are the perfect remedy and we found one such service in town that will door deliver trays of brownie-filled goodness.

Brownie Points is just about a year-old and offers the basics- brownie, banana loaves and lemon muffins. For the brownies you need to order a minimum of half a tray (Rs 300) which comes with 15 brownies and the minimum order for the Banana, Walnut and Chocolate Chip Slice is a loaf (Rs 200). We opted for the brownies and banana loaf and were pleasantly surprised with the service. After the initial order was taken by one of the partners, we got a call for confirmation a day before the order was set to deliver. The delivery in turn was made at an address of our convenience well in advance of the scheduled time and without delivery charge. We were more than impressed and couldn't wait to dig into the goodies.

Wrapped up in foil and neatly stacked in a cardboard box the brownies smelt very appetizing. Crumbly on the bite the brownie was sufficiently moist, chocolaty and was generously sprinkled with walnut bits. The base was crusty and slightly overdone, just how we like our brownie. The brownies were wiped out in no time and we then sampled the banana loaf that sent us back in time into our childhood. Sliced for convenience, the banana cake was fluffy, perfectly done and sprinkled with bits of walnuts and chocolate chips. While the cake tasted like regular homemade fare, the chocolate chips gave it the much needed twist. It is the familiar feeling of homemade goodness that made us mope this up in no time.

Brownie Points also offer to send you along some homemade chocolate sauce (R 80 for 500 ml) with the brownies. Though they forgot to bring us the promised chocolate sauce, we aren't taking away any brownie points from them.
