You might have been born and brought up in Maharashtra but there are several facts and aspects to the state that remain undiscovered. To help discover and experience the state better, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation&rsquo;s (MTDC) launched its magazine, Maharashtra Unlimited. <img alt="" src="/imagedata/2012/may/Tamasha.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 402px; " /> Author Sandesh Bhandare explores Tamasha, the traditional performing folk art from Maharashtra. Pic courtesy/ Sandesh Bhandare Launched on April 30, this quarterly magazine will focus on must-visit and unknown destinations, cultural and natural history, literature and eminent personalities who have contributed to the economy of the state as well as the country. &ldquo;Maharashtra has a mix of sanctuaries, centuries-old culture and traditions, one of the highest concentrations of forts and beaches in the country and a thriving economy. Overall, the state has unlimited, fantastic offerings for tourists. This was why we started a magazine, to cover these factors, and also the reason behind deciding to name it Maharashtra Unlimited,&rdquo; explains Manjiri Khandekar, editor-in-chief of the magazine. <img alt="" src="/imagedata/2012/may/People.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 384px; " /> People of Anandwan return after their morning prayer at Babe Amte&rsquo;s shrine. Pic courtesy/ Anandwan Khandekar tells us that Maharashtra is divided into 30 travel circuits and the team plans to cover different locations in every issue; the current circuit that has been covered is Nashik. The magazine will also have a section in every issue that discusses the lives of key figures from the state who have contributed to the country too. The launch edition gives a detailed account about the life of the state&rsquo;s first chief minister Yashwantrao Chavan. The feature on Baba Amte&rsquo;s Anandwan makes for an interesting read that talks about the dedication and contribution of Amte, and the younger generations of his family, for the cause of leprosy patients. <img alt="" src="/imagedata/2012/may/Book.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 695px; " /> The stunning photographs; be it of ancient rock-cut Buddhist caves or the nakhras of Tamasha artists are some of the highlights of the magazine. Overall, the magazine caters to various kinds of readers through its different sections (including sanctuary, festival, arts and crafts, recipes) apart from a section dedicated to adventure sport destinations in the state. <h2 class="footer_style"> Maharashtra Unlimited, an MTDC initiative, Rs 150.
