Want to own a copy of Leonardo Da Vinci&rsquo;s Mona Lisa, Vincent Van Gogh&rsquo;s paintings from the Almond Blossoms series, or the famous Prima Ballerina, painted by one of the founding fathers of Impressionism, Edgar Degas? Come to the Bal Gandharva Art Gallery at JM Road, which has organised a special show of original replicas of works of European painters from Renaissance to the Industrial Revolution, in a four-day show, titled Dream A Painting, starting today. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/aug/Monalisa.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 504px;" /> Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci Most of the paintings on display are priced anywhere between '10,000 to '2,50,000 and vary depending on the size of the canvas; some like The Ninth Wave by Ivan Aivazovsky (5 feet by 3.5 feet) cost around '1,50,000 whereas you can get a copy of Mona Lisa (24X20 inches) for just '12,500. Brought to India by daughter-father duo Rajlaxmi and Aamod Bhat, this is for the first time that a show focussing on original replicas has been organised for art lovers in Pune. &ldquo;I came up with the concept during my travel to Europe where I was invited by one of my friends. He told me about some of the most famous artists. I visited several museums to see their work, and I fell in love with the paintings. The work that they have done is really excellent,&rdquo; says Bhatt, who procured these copyright-free images from art schools over the globe. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/aug/The-Ninth-Wave.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 330px;" /> The Ninth Wave by Ivan Aivazovsky The show will have more than 70 canvas prints including works of artists like Claude Monet, &Eacute;douard Manet, Alfred Sisley, Paul C&eacute;zanne, Gustav Klimt and JMW Turner, to name a few. Bhatt says that the prints on display are limited edition museum quality images, produced with permission using canvas art technique. &ldquo;Canvas art is a European method to replicate original paintings, and the prints created using this method are almost 95 percent close to the original painting on pixel level. You won&rsquo;t get the same quality or feel of the painting that this method provides anywhere else,&quot; he adds.u00a0 The paintings on display are available in varied sizes and are of various types such as still life, landscapes, portraits and abstracts and almost all of them are painted more than 75 to 400 years ago. And just to keep you safe from any legal hassles, Bhatt says that he has obtained all the legal documents required regarding the reprinting of these paintings according to the European and US laws.
