Painted over a period of 15 years, Reflections, is a new show featuring works by Pune-based artist Dinkar Jadhav. A master of Impasto, a technique of painting, the artist is known for his immersive, landscapes and portraits, and will showcase works in a variety of mediums including acrylic, charcoal as well as water colour where he has captured monuments, processions, bandwallahs (faces) and bazaar sequences. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/dec/artistdinkar.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 478px;" /> Dinkar Jadhav Ask him for his inspiration, and the artist points quickly towards Mother Earth. &ldquo;As a child, most of my toys were earthen objects; it is why earth is always been my inspiration in all my works,&rdquo; he said. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/dec/bendur.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 422px;" /> In his student days, however, Jadhav came across a book about the well-known landscape painter JMW Turner. For Jadhav, who came from a small village named, Jadhavwadi, Turner&rsquo;s works were inspiring. His works struck a chord in Jadhav, and he followed in his footsteps developing a unique style of his own. The artist says that the play of light and shade in nature had always appealed to him, and though he would refer to his works as realist, he do not try to imitate or copy nature. &ldquo;I paint objects as patches of colour, but the forms are abstract. To me, this abstraction is creativity. Nature provides me with the inspiration to express my vision, which I feel is art. The artist in me derives immense satisfaction when I paint this way,&rdquo; he adds. Jadhav will also be showcasing a selection of horse portraits, where the artist has tried to capture different emotions of horses, from love, and determination to their everyday struggle on the canvas. The inspiration for Ashwa Chitra came after he saw a Victoria (cart with a horse) four years ago.
