As a tribute to PK Nair, who established the National Film Archive of India in Pune, Shivendra Singh Dungarpur has helmed a documentary, which will be screened at the 14th Mumbai Film Festival on October 22. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2012/oct/Celluloid_Man_Poster.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 688px; " /> Film poster of Celluloid Man The film, Celluloid Man, delves deep into the life and efforts of Nair, who preserved film archives, can by can. The National Film Archives of India still has nine silent films of the 1,700 silent films made in India. The film also highlights the history of Indian cinema and the importance of preserving and restoring our Indian cinematic heritage. &ldquo;It is thanks to Mr Nair that we had the chance to watch the best of world and Indian cinema and he has touched the lives of generations of filmmakers and actors,&rdquo; says Dungarpur. Many actors came forward to shoot interviews for the film including Shyam Benegal, Mrinal Sen, Gulzar, Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Rajkumar Hirani, Lester James Peries, Kamal Hassan, Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Sriram Raghavan, Shabana Azmi, Naseeruddin Shah, Kundan Shah, Kumar Shahani, Saeed Mirza, Ketan Mehta, and Jaya Bachchan. <h2 class="footer_style"> On: October 22, 6 pm At: Inox, Nariman Point.
