Retracing the Mahatma's footsteps

To mark Martyrs' Day, The Guide offers a checklist of places across the city that have a historic connection to Mahatma Gandhi
On the occasion of Martyrs’ Day (the 64th death anniversary of the father of the nation Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi), The GUIDE decided to re-discover his connection to the city. Interestingly, The Poona Pact which refers to an agreement between Dr BR Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi, was signed on September 24, 1932 at Yerwada Central Jail in the city. The Yerwada Jail was where Mahatma Gandhi was jailed and spent several years during India’s freedom struggle.
