The guide finds out why seven artists decided to host a joint exhibition

Darpan Art Gallery is hosting a bunch of freshers who are just out of art school and will be exhibiting their works for the time time. It includes artists such as Supriya Nananagar, Manali Deshpande, Priya Sawale, Sujata Saha, Mohan Gunjal, Rupali Patil and Suman Punde who are alumni of Bharati Vidyapeeths's College of Fine Arts.

"Those who are seeing the paintings are appreciating it," said Manali Deshpande. Around 30 paintings on various themes will be on display at the week-long exhibition. Deshpande adds, "Each one has a unique style and we haven't stuck to a particular theme. I have focused on Warli, modern art and figurative art while Supriya is more into modern art and Priya has focused on figurative art."

So why did the seven artists decide to exhibit their work together? "When we are in college we had an exhibition where 16 artists had participated. During the final year we decided to have an exhibition together before each one of us becomes busy with life and career," added Deshpande.

Till: July 17, 10 pm to 8 pm
At: Darpan Art Gallery, Kalachhaya Center, off Senapati Bapat Road.
