New York: According to media reports, Micro-blogging website Twitter has increased its animated GIF (graphics interchange format) size limit from 5MB to 15MB if uploaded on the web from a desktop computer. However, the 5MB photo limit stays the same, along with the GIF limit, for mobile uploads on Twitter.

The update has not made its way to TweetDeck which remains perennially behind the times when it comes to Twitter engineering improvements, a major tech website reported.
Earlier this month, Twitter appointed Bret Taylor -- former chief technology officer at Facebook and an ex-Google employee who helped build Google Maps -- to its board, in a bid to regain footing in the social media landscape. Last month, Twitter launched, "Twitter Dashboard" -- an app to streamline engagement for business accounts in order to help business owners connect with their users. Also in June, Twitter introduced #Stickers, a fun new way to add creativity to photos and connect them to the world. In May this year, Twitter launched a new feature to help you figure out which relevant accounts you would like to follow.
