You don't just update your status message, harvest strawberries, check who last accessed your profile and then log out. "We ran a contest in March, inviting members to suggest T-shirt ideas around the micro-blogging site, because we believe that if you can tweet in the virtual world, then you can tweet in the real world. T-shirts are the modern-day canvas," says Kashyap. "Most of the entries we received were based on the controversies surrounding the IPL. Slogans included 'Twitter takes Tharoor down' and 'Post the IPL, Modi's next creation - ITL (Indian Tweeting League)'. We also received entries for ways to tackle corruption, save the planet and save water," he adds. The first batch of Twitter Tees comprised five designs and were launched in April-end. "The selected entries were completely user-driven. We kept track of the slogans that generated the maximum interest through the number of hits and user comments," says the Mumbai-based Kashyap. "Entries that use humour or sarcasm are usually the most popular," he adds. The contest is open to anyone who wants to speak their mind. The best part? You get paid for having an opinion, provided, of course, your idea gets selected. A catchy T-shirt slogan could get you Rs 1,500 in cash and Rs 1,000 in community merchandise. Those wishing to upload entire designs, can earn anything between Rs 5,000 to 25,000, depending on the design. Says Kashyap, "We prefer to be community driven rather than depend on our in-house designer." Tees are priced at Rs 399 upwards.
