Showcasing the five photographers Idris Ahmed A trip to Spiti convinced Ahmed to begin his career as a freelance photographer and he hasn&rsquo;t looked back since. His works at the exhibition will bring forth the sheer vastness of Spiti, a riot of colours as villagers play Holi in Braj, and how prayers flowat Jerusalem, in Israel. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/dec/idris.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 735px;" /> Mathew Kurien A design manager with a publishing house, Mathew Kurien always had a keen interest in photography and is presenting a series of photographs that he titled The Soulless Cutouts. &ldquo;I discovered this photo-editing technique while doing a cutout for a book that I was working on. I had accidentally deleted the main subject, but the effect stayed with me. This series defies and brings home the point that the reverse is true, by omitting the figures and replacing them with cutouts,&rdquo; says Kurien. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/dec/Mathew-002.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 366px;" /> Shabir Hussain Santosh A Kashmiri by origin, Shabir Hussain Santosh loves photography for the way the camera can capture the diverse moods and colours of mountain landscapes, his beloved subject. &ldquo;Kashmiris a land of unimaginable colours that only nature can conceivein all its creative wisdom. A land where in one sweeping gaze, the eyes take in the deep lustrous lakes fed by never-endingstreams and dazzling mountains towering above, piercing the clouds, standing tall, higher than anything of human mould,&rdquo;u00a0says Santosh. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/dec/Shabir-001.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 285px;" /> Partha Sarathi Sengupta Partha Sarathi Sengupta, a professional photojournalist, was born in Kolkata and often considers nature his muse. &ldquo;Nature&rsquo;s every creation is unique. I connect myself with nature through the medium of photography, which is timeless,&rdquo; Sengupta explains. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/dec/Partha-002.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 508px;" /> Sanjay Das Sanjay Das, a Delhi-based photographer, is displaying images that are varied, depicting the lyrical quality of life, spirit and thepulse of India.
