Father&rsquo;s Day is celebrated to recognise the contribution that fathers and father figures make to the lives of children. <img alt="Fathers Day" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/jun/Fathers-Day.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 358px;" /> Although it is celebrated on a variety of dates worldwide, many countries observe this day on the third Sunday in June. We chatted with some celebs in the city about their special memories with their father: Actress Vibhawari Deshpande has acted in several Marathi films. Her father, Upendra Dixit, runs the book store International Book Services which was started by her grandfather in Pune in 1931. <img alt="Vibhawari Deshpande" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/jun/Vibhawari-Deshpande.jpg" style="width: 400px; height: 407px;" /> Vibhawari Deshpande Deshpande says Father&rsquo;s Day for her is an occasion to remember not just her father but also all the father figures in her life, be it her elder brother, her father-in-law or her mentors. &ldquo;I feel that these all people have helped me grow in some way or the other throughout my life. I respect my father a lot and I have fond childhood memories with him. I remember going to Ganapati pandals with him sitting on his shoulders.&rdquo; <img alt="Actress Sonalee Kulkarni" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/jun/Sonalee-with-her-parents.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 291px;" /> Sonalee (in pink) with her parents Actress Sonalee Kulkarni (who prefers to be known by her first name), shot to fame with the movie Natarang, is all praise for her father. Having spent her childhood in Pune, the actress shares some of her memories of a strict-yet-emotional father. &ldquo;Though I do not celebrate the day in a big way, I do make it a point to spend the day with my dad. This year, we might go out for lunch or for shopping together.&rdquo; She adds that when her father was serving in the Indian Army, he was always on the move and hence couldn&rsquo;t devote much time to her. &ldquo;But now as he has retired, he even accompanies me on my outdooru00a0shoots. I have a younger brother, but being the first child and being a daughter, I can claim that he loves me more than my brother!&rdquo;u00a0she states. She also emphasises that her father is very emotional: &ldquo;He always cries like a baby whenever he sees a &lsquo;bidai&rsquo; scene on television. We make fun of him for being so fragile but it shows his emotional side towards me and makes me love him even more.&rdquo;
